Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Cortex

General

What is Cortex?

Cortex prevents AI from silently failing. It stops AI from proceeding with work while being wrong without knowing it. Cortex detects and exposes AI failures early so you can catch problems before they grow.

What results can I expect?

Early Silent Failure Detection - Prevents AI from working in a wrong state.
Failure Exposure and Isolation - Catch problems early and prevent spread.
100% Local Storage - Your code never leaves your machine.

Which AI tools is it compatible with?

Cortex works with all MCP-compatible tools including Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, and more. It's IDE-agnostic, so you can use it in your preferred development environment.

How is it different from Cursor or Copilot?

Cursor and Copilot don't tell you when AI fails. Cortex monitors the execution integrity of AI work, detecting and exposing silent failures. You can use it alongside existing tools to improve the reliability of AI work.

Privacy & Security

Is my code sent to your servers?

No. All your code and context stays on your local machine. We can never see your code, conversations, or project data.

Can I use it offline?

Cortex requires periodic license verification, but has a 72-hour offline buffer. Even if you temporarily lose internet, Cortex keeps working. Memory data is stored locally and always accessible.

How does the backup feature work?

All context data is stored on your local machine. The snapshot feature lets you save and restore context state at specific points in time. Only you can access your data.

Features

How does Silent Failure detection work?

Cortex tracks AI's work process and detects failure signals. It catches AI being confident but wrong, context loss, goal drift, and more early on, preventing work from going in the wrong direction.

What is auto-classification?

Cortex automatically organizes context by topic. When you ask about "authentication", it doesn't just match keywords - it finds authentication-related context that's actually relevant to your work.

How does context recommendation work?

Cortex learns which contexts you use together. When you start similar tasks, it automatically suggests the same context combinations. You don't need to remember what you need.

Can I sync with Git?

Yes, if you have Git MCP installed. When you switch Git branches, Cortex can automatically switch to matching context. Your memory stays organized with your code.

Beta Program

What do I get as a beta tester?

One year free, access to all features, and direct influence on product development. We limit beta to 30 people to ensure quality feedback and support.

What do you expect from beta testers?

Use Cortex in your daily workflow and share feedback. Report bugs, suggest improvements, help us understand how developers actually use AI memory. No minimum time requirement.

How do I apply?

Sign in with GitHub on the beta page. We review applications and notify approved testers within a few days. Priority goes to active developers who can provide detailed feedback.
